Am I a Cat Hater?

I just got back from another long rehearsal for the Grease musical. Coincidently, my stepdad is also a part of the pit showing off his amazing clarinet skills. He often covers up my mistakes. *grins* And the subject came back onto Asper and Nute...

For those that don't know, Asper and Nute are the family cats.
Mom's name was Sugar....
There was Aspertaine (or however you spell it), Nutrasweet, and Sacrine...
Needless to say, we didn't get Sac... but, I digress. *grins* Plenty time for cat stories later.

The cats are being put down on Tuesday or Wednesday. They are being put down for a variety of reasons... unfortunately, none are health related on the part of the cats. My folks are moving in less than 4 weeks. These cats, being over 10 years old, my mom thinks that they would not handle the move. As well, they need to get rid of them soon so that they can list their house. Apparently, having cats around decreases sale image, especially with cat hair and litter box smells. *sighs*

Of course, this ticks off my sister to no extreme. Last time my mom brought the subject up, my sister got so mad, she accused my mom of wanting to get rid of them all along and hung up on her. My sister is very close to these cats.

The reality is: no one wants them. My sister can't take them since her guy is deathly allergic. I can't take them in my current living situation since I live with 3 cats already! Plus, even if I were in an apartment, there are NO apartments here that allow pets. My mother has also called the Humane Society, and put ads on the radio. There just isn't any interest....

There is also something else people don't stop to realise: keeping the cats puts my mother's health in more risk. She has allergies to them and has been on allergy meds for as long as we had them. The pills aren't working anymore, so she doubled the dose. But, that conflicts with her blood pressure pills. Even if they were young, I don't think my mom could handle it anymore...

It's sad. Booger is going to be pissed off. I feel like I have abandoned them since in my new life of a teacher, I didn't spend much time trying to figure out another solution. I'm also selfish: I don't want cats. Even if I smuggled them into an apartment, I'm tired of cat hair and having the responsibility of feeding, cleaning, and giving them loving care. And I feel like absolute crap for being so selfish.

Yep, one could say that I'm aiding and abetting the murder of 2 perfectly healthy family members.

OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Kitties!!! I are sad!!

That really is a tough predicament. Personally, I would release them into the forest! The call of the wild beckons them like a moth to a flame. They would harness their ferocious, jungle-like natures and hunt and kill like the brethren before them. No more would they have to rely on the hu-mons to feed them, for they are lethal predators underneath the skin, poised and ready for action and freedom!

Don't look at me if they get attacked by a bunny, though.

Aww. I'm sorry. It seems pretty clear that putting them down is a last resort though. There's no one at the lake that will take them? Did your mom ask my mom if she knew anyone that would take them? My mom knows lots of people. Good luck with whatever happens.

And just so you know, I never hung up on her, she hung up on me. I don't appreciate you trying to make me look *that* bad. Also, the cats aren't even 10 yet. *cries*
