The Home Stretch

It's past my bedtime, but I feel like I'm not ready to go yet.

I have 7 more teaching days. Then exams. Then marking of said exams and assisting students' last minute scramble to earn the credit. Then organize my room. Attend some meetings and PD. I'm teaching/redesigning a course for next year. We have "Peer Tutors", which are students who sign up and become Teacher Helpers for a semester and receive a credit. The program went under, being rejected by the Department of Education. Looking at a few other schools, they teach more of a "Intro to Pedagogy" course with work placement hours in classrooms. I volunteered to take that over.

In all honesty, a major part of me likes it because I have drastically benefited from this program. I have 3 Peer Tutors myself this semester. I cringe at the thought that I would have to mark my own grammar sheets. I grumble enough with filling out adaptations resource sheets for my students.

With summer approaching, I'm starting to think of things I would like to accomplish. These are just some ideas:
- visit my grandparents while they are still alive
- lose 20 pounds
- become more educated on ADHD and tips/strategies for parents (that's right, Baby J has shown... oh, how did the district psychologist put it?.... "evidence of ADHD symptomology")
- design the peer tutorial class (Gr. 11 and Gr. 12)
- try gardening (of the flower/maintenance variety)
- more cooking
- improve my everyday vernacular (see, starting already... though "everyday vernacular" is redundant... d'oh!)
- start doing minor maintenance around the house

We'll see how far we get on all of the above.

better than me
hey, at least your list is in writing, and uses words with more than 2 syllables. Mat leave does that to you. Good luck with everything, especially the Baby J part.

I don't like that visiting me and playing board games is not on that list.

Her list was "just some ideas"... at least you see her sometimes. I think they should save up and come see me and my rugrats on the coast. Come to think of it, I think you should, too! How have things been going, anyway? Singingly, I presume? LOL
