This hasn't been a bad weekend. I got most of my marking done.... enough to know who is exempted or not. In my high school, Grade 9 and 10 students can be exempted from exams if they achieve a mark of 75% or higher.

I also printed off 3 out of 4 sets of exams. I have made a quick draft of the last one, but I'll look at it again tomorrow with a fresh set of eyes (it's for Friday).

There has been some discussion in the staffroom about one of my students dealing drugs at school. I hope not... don't get me wrong, it wouldn't surprise me if he was. I would be disappointed to say the least. Even though he's failing his classes (here for a good time AND a long time), we have very good chats about everything from his life and choices to our theories on what makes teenagers tick. He's a Brit; it would be sad to see him deported for being an idiot. As well, I'm sure the female population would suffer from losing a tall, slim-but-built, soccer-playing, dark haired and blue eyed player with a British accent.

Things are okay at the homefront. I've been more snappy than usual, but that's to be expected with a week of energy drinks and marking. I'm trying to return to a more jovial nature, but it's been hard. I try to keep my cool; my husband works two jobs, and I try to be understanding when I have to reclean stuff I just did because no one else picks up after themselves. I try to lay off when my hubby is always tired. I try not to tell my beautiful son that I really don't want to hear about this Pokemon or play that game with him. I try... somedays are easier than others.

Saturday was good. After scrubbing toilets and marking, I found a life. My friend had a "personal toy" party. Not your average candle party, that's for sure. Much cackling to be had. I was slightly mocked as well for dressing up.... but I actually hired a babysitter, and I leave my house so seldomly (except for coffee) that I thought I would try brushing my hair for a change. Which made me notice the amount of split ends I have. Le sigh.

This week is exam week, and then I am on my "easier" course load. I teach two Grade 11 English classes (one Comprehensive and one Literary), and continue on with my regular Grade 9 English (with a few transfering students). I've never taught Gr. 11 Comp. before, but I'm looking forward to the idea of more teaching and discussion compared to babysitting and crowd control.

And I have become addicted to Facebook, yet again. Maybe I'll make myself go try that jigsaw puzzle again that I have abandoned over the Xmas break.... or recheck my FB homepage to see if there are any new statuses I can comment on .... it's been a whole 10 minutes...

I'm so used to hitting the "like" option. :( Like, totally.
